| Day 1 | We begin our Southern adventure today as we drive to the lovely state of South Carolina to our overnight destination of the state’s capital city, Columbia. After checking in to our hotel, we will enjoy an included dinner together this evening. D |
| Day 2 | After our included breakfast we depart for Charleston. This historic port city is bursting with the beauty of spring, and Middleton Place Gardens is no exception. Here we see the oldest landscaped gardens in America, laid out by Henry Middleton in 1781. One hundred slaves labored for a decade to complete the work. Middleton is a masterpiece of formal landscaping, flowers, lakes and terracing. After touring Middleton Place we arrive in Charleston and check in to our hotel for a two-night stay. Dinner is included in tour this evening along the beautiful Charleston waterfront. B, D |
| Day 3 | After our included breakfast this morning we meet our local guide for a tour of historic Charleston. See impeccably preserved and restored homes, visit the Battery with some of the settlement’s earliest fortifications, and see St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, with a graveyard dating back to 1752. This afternoon we travel to Magnolia Gardens, described by Reader’s Digest as “one of the most remarkable bits of work that has been done in the world.” Tonight we try out another great Charleston restaurant, included in tour. B, D |
| Day 4 | After our included breakfast we enjoy a boat cruise to Fort Sumter, the place where the “War Between the States” began. In addition to seeing the Fort, you’ll get a sweeping view of the historic Charleston skyline and beautiful Charleston Harbor. Then we depart for our drive to another great city of the Old South, Savannah, Georgia. En route we enjoy a scenic drive through towering live oaks and Spanish moss on our way to Beaufort. Our local guide will share many historic facts of Beaufort. A dozen movies including “Forrest Gump” have been filmed here. Then we’re off to Savannah for a two-night stay. Dinner will be enjoyed in tour this evening. B, D |
| Day 5 | You’re sure to love Savannah! We’ll take an informative trolley tour seeing the major attractions such as the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, the Cotton Exchange and the historic Riverfront. We’ll include a delicious family-style lunch at Lady & Sons Restaurant. This afternoon, we catch a glimpse of Savannah the way General Edward Oglethorpe saw it in 1733 aboard the Savannah River Queen. L |
| Day 6 | We depart Savannah this morning after our included breakfast. This afternoon we arrive at Stone Mountain, a 3,200-acre historical park. See the park onboard a scenic train ride and tour the Antebellum Plantation before heading for Atlanta where we will overnight tonight. A buffet dinner is included in tour. B, D |
